What approach is used in Psychotherapy?
Susannah uses a systemic approach and ‘clinical wisdom’ drawing from years of experience working both privately and in the NHS. In her work she typically has three phases all within a safety frame. Firstly, the aim is to join with the client(s) and to ‘unpack’ the difficulties that are brought into therapy. Secondly collaboratively with the client(s) a process of making sense takes place before moving on to the final phase of therapy that is ‘repacking’, leaving unwanted patterns behind and adding in more useful ways of being, identified during the process.
Are Meetings online or Face to Face?
Both face to face appointments and on-line appointments are available dependant on your preference. Online uses Teams which is available for any user.
Disabled Access
The premises are located in Penarth and on the ground floor so no issue for disability access.
How Often Should You See A Therapist?
The frequency of therapy sessions depends on your individual needs, goals, and the nature of the issues you’re addressing. Typically, therapy starts with weekly or bi-weekly sessions to establish a routine and build progress. Over time, sessions may become less frequent as you gain tools and confidence to manage independently. Your therapist will work with you to create a schedule that suits your situation and ensures steady progress.
How do Nutrition Consultations Work ?
Nutrition and Allergy consultations are with Barbara.
One meeting (about 2 hrs) is needed to carry out nutritional assessment and allergy testing. Detailed explanation of results follows with a necessary dietary change. Nutritional supplements may be provided.
Usually 2 follow-up appointments of 1 hr are booked after 4 to 6 weeks; to monitor the progress, carry out an allergy re-test and provide further nutritional advice.
The treatment is structured in phases so that each will prepare the ground for the next.
